MUMBAI: Two persons have been arrested at Mumbai International Airport with heroin and cocaine worth crores. 4.47 kg heroin worth Rs 31.29 crore and 1.596 kg cocaine worth Rs 15.96 crore were seized during the operation conducted by Mumbai Airport Customs Zonal Unit III.
These drugs were seized in two cases. 4.47 kg of heroin was seized from a person who arrived in Kenya Airways flight KQ210 from Johannesburg, South Africa via Nairobi, Kenya. The drugs were hidden in 12 document folders.
In the second case, buttons were found suspiciously during a baggage scan of a passenger who arrived on Ethiopian Airlines flight ET-460. In a detailed search, it was revealed 1.596 kg of cocaine were hidden in the buttons of the kurtas and in compartments inside the handbag.
Both have been charged under sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and remanded in judicial custody for 14 days, officials said.
