KASARAGOD: Following the death of a 19-year-old girl due to food poisoning here, BJP workers, including women, staged a protest in front of Al Romansiah Hotel in Uduma. Later the police removed the protestors. The deceased Anjusree Parvathy ate kuzhimanthi at Romansiah Hotel, after which she suffered from food poisoning leading to her death. In connection with the incident, the police took two including the hotel owner into custody.

According to the police, a case of unnatural death has been registered following the complaint of the relatives. The investigation is in progress and the statement of the doctors has been recorded. The police also clarified that further action can be taken only after receiving the post-mortem report. Meanwhile, DMO Dr Ramdas said that the preliminary conclusion is that Anjusree's death was due to food poisoning. That is understood from the hospital report in Mangalore. He said that the final confirmation will be made after the autopsy in Pariyaram.

On December 31, Anjusree and her friends ordered 'kuzhimanthi' online from Al Romansiah Hotel. Anju's friends also got food poisoning and have fallen sick. The Health Minister ordered an investigation into the incident.
