KASARGOD: More details have come out in connection with the incident in which a 19-year-old died of food poisoning. The deceased is Kasargod Thalaklayi native Anjusree Parvathy who fell unwell after eating a kuzhimanthi bought online from a hotel in Uduma. Anjushree and her friends ordered and consumed kuzhimanthi from Al Romansia Hotel on December 31. Anjusree's sister Anusree revealed that Anjusree had also eaten the same food the next day. According to Anusree, four people, including herself, had eaten the food and two of them later had vomiting and abdominal pain.

Anjusree fell unwell after eating the food. Later, she was admitted to a private hospital. After receiving preliminary treatment, she returned home. On Friday morning, she fell unconscious and was rushed to the hospital. However, she died soon. Uduma MLA CH Kunhambu said that those who ate food with Anju also fell unwell and experienced abdominal pain.

Three persons, including the owner of the Al Romansia hotel, were taken into custody in connection with the incident. The Food Safety Department has locked and sealed the hotel. Following a complaint from Anjusree's family, the police announced that they have registered a case of unnatural death. The investigation is underway. The statement of the doctors has been recorded. The police also clarified that further action can be taken only after receiving the post-mortem report.
