THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The field inspection on complaints received on the buffer zone issue will continue for another week. At the end of the deadline, a total of 63500 complaints were received. Out of these, 24528 complaints were resolved. About half of the complaints that were filed were not resolved before the deadline. Meanwhile, the forest department explained that many of the complaints were duplicated and that some of the complaints are not serious.

When the field inspection on the new complaints gets completed, there will be a total of around one lakh buildings in the buffer zone area. Kerala may ask the Supreme Court to exclude these buildings from the buffer zone. The final report will be prepared after another week of inspection. Meanwhile, although Kerala Congress (M) leader Jose K Mani requested that the time limit for filing the complaint should be extended by another two weeks, the limit was not extended.
