TRIVANDRUM: In a rare achievement, Kerala becomes the first state in India to go 100 percent digital in banking. Every bank in Kerala has made either the current or savings account digital. “I would like to congratulate everyone who worked behind this and declare Kerala as the first fully digital banking state in the country,” chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan said. “In order to make the digital services universally accessible, we need to ensure that the digital divide is completely eliminated,” he added.

State Level Bankers’ Committee (SLBC) convenor S Premkumar, RBI Regional Director Thomas Mathew, NABARD Chief General Manager Gopakumaran Nair G, among others also attended the event.

The chief minister later gave his vision on K-FON and ensured that the exclusive project will provide free internet to everyone in the state. “Once the project gets completed, internet will be available to everyone in the state either for a cheaper price or for free-of-cost,” Vijayan said.

Albeit a great achievement, chances of people falling for fraudulent hands are reported rampant in the state. In any case, restrict yourself from revealing your PIN, OTP, or account details. Banks won't indulge in any kind of calls to their customers, so never entertain any calls that seek bank details.
