WAYANAD: Sultan Bathery doesn’t sleep these days. Alarm bells go ringing often as the wild elephant that entered town has gone rogue. The elephant dubbed PM-2 by the forest officials sneaked its way into the town in the dead of night and attacked a pedestrian named Subair Kutty. A video surfaced reveals PM-2 trudging towards Kutty and shooing the elderly one with its trunk. Subair Kutty miraculously escaped unhurt.
After this incident, PM-2 covered itself safely in the depth of the forest. The forest officials have labored a long way to catch the killer elephant but with no success. The search to capture the wild beast will continue towards the next day, officials informed.
PM-2 is said to be the same one who killed two in Tamil Nadu’s Gudalur area, after which the forest officials there tranquilized it and made way for the giant to escape into the jungle. An officer with the forest flying squad, which rushes to the areas where the elephant frequents speaking to IANS said, "We are also humans, and once while we were bursting firecrackers and tried to scare the elephant away, it was advancing towards us and beyond a point, we ran to our safety."
