KASARGOD: Vital evidence in the death of Anjusree, the 19-year-old who succumbed to suspected food poisoning in Kasargod has been found, informed district police chief Dr. Vaibhav Saxena. Further confirmation awaits as the sample results are yet to arrive from the labs. The postmortem report made wrong the previously held assumption of food poisoning and revealed it was due to some other reason that ceased the functioning of the liver that resulted in her death. After the revelation from the postmortem report, the district police chief called for an urgent meeting with all the investigating officers to apprise the developments.
It was assumed the kuzhimanthi from Bayal-al-Romansia hotel poisoned Anjusree, but the postmortem report opened a different story. On December 31st, Anjusree ate kuzhimanthi, mayonnaise, green chutney, and chicken 65 from the local eatery. Along with Anjusree, her mother brother and cousin also savored the food. But Anjusree suffered vomiting and abdominal pain while the others remained normal.
Anjusree was shifted to a private hospital in Deli, Kasargod. After gaining good health, she returned to her home. One day later, she felt discomfort and approached the same hospital again. This time, Anjusree’s blood was tested and antibiotics were prescribed after which she returned home. The discomfort came back to haunt her for a final time forcing the family to take her to Mangalore for better treatment. Anjusree died the following day at 7 am. The infections spread deep into her internal organs, damaging the same and resulting in death, a D M O report says.
