KOLLUR: Indian music wizard K J Yesudas will turn 83 today. The iconic playback singer celebrates every birthday religiously at the revered Mookambikla temple. But this time, the long-practiced ritual will see a pause. Yesudas currently stays in Dallas, so he won't be physically present at Kollur while the rituals and offerings on his behalf will take place under the charge of Govinda Acharya of Mookambika temple.
The Yesudas academy in Kochi will celebrate the legend's big day at Azeesiya convention hall. In this, both Yesudas and his better half Prabha will take part online. At 10 in the morning, Malayalam megastar Mammootty will release the latest album ’Thanichonnukanaan’ sung by Yesudas.
Kerala media academy chairman R S Babu has curated 83 images of Yesudas captured by celebrated cinematographer Leen Thobias. Minister P Rajeeve will inaugurate this event. A set of other cultural events are in the book which will see noted playback singers including M G Sreekumar, Unni Menon, and Vijay Yesudas performing in dedication to the legend.
