TRIVANDRUM: The Keralakaumudy scoop over the illegal deputation of agricultural university VC has reached the official eyes. The SC/ST commission has suo moto taken a case regarding the issue. Commission registrar Leena Litty asked for a report from the registrar of the agricultural university within a deadline of 15 days.

After Agricultural Production Commissioner and VC in charge Ishita Roy took a long leave from office, the baton for VC was passed on to Dr. Arya, HOD of the Plant breeding and genetics division in the Vellayani agricultural college. But it took some time for the illegality of the appointment to surface. According to merit, it should have been Dr. A Anilkumar, a five-year senior to Dr. Arya who deserved the post. Anilkumar was a faculty dean and is presently the HOD of the agricultural extension department at Vellayani agricultural college. He is a veteran in the field with participation in general committees and the board of studies during his sound career. Moreover, the veteran is just seven months from retirement and falls under the SC/CT category.

The teachers association of the college previously approached the high court claiming the appointment of Ishita Roy as a breakage of the UGC-held guidelines. Technically, it is Ishita Roy who should have been the VC and if considering any other for the post, on legal merits, it should have been DR A Anilkumar. So, It is now confirmed that the high court has been deliberately misled by the authorities.
