THRISSUR: Peruvanam Kuttan Marar has been removed from the Thrissur Pooram's Ilanjithara Melam. He was removed just as he was going to participate in this year's Ilanjithara Melam and complete his 25th year as a 'Mela Pramani.' Kizhakkoottu Aniyan Marar will be the new Mela Pramani. The decision in this regard was taken by the governing body of Paramekkavu Devaswom.

For a while, there had been considerable friction between Paramekkavu and Peruvanam Kuttan Marar. The devaswom and Kuttan Marar got into an argument last Friday during the Paramekkavu Vela. Following this, the governing body meeting decided to remove Kuttan Marar.
