THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A court has found that a man was guilty of setting his wife on fire, cutting her body into several parts, and dumping it in a septic tank in order to marry another woman for dowry. The accused is Joy Antony, husband of Sunitha, a native of Venkavila in Anadu. Thiruvananthapuram Sixth Additional Sessions Judge K Vishnu will pronounce the sentence on January 17th. The court cancelled the bail of the accused and remanded him to Thiruvananthapuram Central Jail.
Joy had hit Sunitha on the head using a hoe before setting her ablaze. After ensuring her death, he cut her body into three pieces and dumped it in the septic tank of his house. It was found through a DNA test that Sunita was killed. During the direct questioning by the court, the accused admitted that he had beaten Sunita on the head with a wooden log and found the remains of the body in the septic tank of his house. Sunitha's two children had testified in court that they saw their father beating their mother and pouring kerosene on her body.
