laptops

TRIVANDRUM: The long-called reform of changing personal computers for laptops in the Kerala secretariat has finally borne fruit. A first set of 750 laptops have been purchased through the IT mission. Another 3500 laptops will be purchased at definite intervals. The total cost for this purchase will reach around 2.51 crores. The compatibility, less power consumption, and easy maintenance favored this shift.

In the first step, the beneficiaries are the assistants and the higher-ups in health, agriculture, higher education, and revenue sections. The computers housed in the secretariat until now are more than five years old. After a thorough maintenance check, the computer system will be handed over to government schools in need.

The new laptops come with certain guidelines. The usage is restricted to only professional work. If reached deputation or retirement, the laptop should be handed back to officials. In case of any technical glitch, the IT section should be informed at the earliest.
