TRIVANDRUM: Every university in Kerala will soon walk in the footsteps of CUSAT which allowed menstruation leave for girl students, informed minister of higher education R Bindhu. It was after the unwavering insistence from The Students Federation of India(SFI) that the Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) inducted this rule. Along with SFI, many other students organization also pressed for this reform in colleges. “The physical pain aside, the mental agony one passes through this phase is immense and that should be taken note of”, said minister R Bindhu.

Every semester mandates an attendance of 75% that will make a student eligible to attend exams. In many cases, girl students fall back before reaching the required level. To ameliorate this, CUSAT brought in a new rule that allows a girl student to write exams even with 73% attendance. The CUSAT method getting adopted to other universities will be a relief for many girl students, informed R Bindhu.
