WAYANAD: The Director of Medical Education (DME) has submitted a report stating that there was no lapse in providing emergency treatment to farmer Thomas who died after being seriously injured in the attack of a tiger in Wayanad. The report was submitted to Health Minister Veena George. The report completely denied the allegation that there was a delay in providing treatment to Thomas at Wayanad Medical College.
Earlier, many, including the children of Thomas, had alleged that there were severe lapses in the treatment provided to Thomas who sustained serious injuries in the tiger attack. However, the report states that there was no lapse on the part of Wayanad Medical College.
According to the DME's report, Thomas sustained several wounds in the tiger attack, and this caused excessive bleeding. Moreover, the patient was taken to Kozhikode Medical College in a 108 ambulance after being treated and stabilized by surgeons and senior doctors. In the meantime, the patient's health deteriorated due to heart-related disease. The DME's report also stated that the cause of death was shock due to excessive bleeding.
