NEW DELHI: At the National Executive Meeting on Tuesday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced that JP Nadda's tenure as the national president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had been extended till June 2024. The decision was taken at the National Executive Meeting of the BJP here in the national capital.

According to sources, the proposal for Naddda's extension was mooted by Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and was agreed upon unanimously by the members of the National Executive. JP Nadda assumed the presidency of the party in June 2019.

JP Nadda was able to lead the party in a good way during the Covid period. The party was also able to carry out many relief activities during the Covid period. The party performed well in the elections held in Bengal and North Eastern states. Nadda was able to lead the party to remarkable victories in Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh. The party made big strides in Bihar as well. It also won the recent election in Gujarat. The BJP presidents of the states will also continue.

"BJP is the most democratically organized party in the country. Elections are conducted as per the party constitution from the booth level to the post of National President. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and party president JP Nadda, the party can achieve a bigger victory in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections," Amit Shah said.
