THODUPUZHA: Kumbamkall native Shiyaz who used to work as a driver on construction sites used to hear his Bengali friends talk about missing good Bengali food. That made him open a 'Bengali hotel' in the building close to Thodupuzha town hall. Just like the name indicates, from the customers to the cooks, everything is Bengali.
There will be a long queue waiting for the hotel to open at 6 am. The customers prefer rice instead of traditional Kerala food. A delicious meal accompanied by fish, chicken, and beef; all cooked in Bengali style for breakfast. After getting their wages in the evening the customers prefer sweets as snacks. Mishti doi is very popular among them. Mustard oil is used for cooking. Till the shop closes at 8 pm in the night, the customers keep on flowing in.
