MUMBAI: At nine people died in a car-truck collision at around 5 am on Thursday on the Mumbai-Goa highway close to Repoli village in Raigad district. Three women and a child were among the deceased.

The collission was between a truck headed for Mumbai and a Maruti Suzuki car headed for Guhagar. The accident claimed the lives of five adults, three women, and one child. Another child was critically hurt and sent to the hospital. All of the deceased were residents of Guhagar's Hedvi village.

Following the event, the traffic on the national highway was stopped in both directions. According to the authorities, an investigation into the accident has been launched. The bodies have been moved to the hospital for the post-mortem.
