THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government has issued an order banning food packets that do not have a slip or sticker containing a food safety warning. Minister Veena George said that the slip or sticker should specify the date and time the food was prepared and the time within what time it should be consumed. According to the Food Safety Standards Regulations, food classified as high-risk hot foods must be consumed within two hours of cooking. If it takes a long time to deliver the food, the temperature should be maintained at 60 degrees during the journey. The minister stated that the action was taken on the basis of finding that such food can be harmful to health when kept at normal temperature for more than 2 hours.
