ISTANBUL: Another earthquake in Turkey. The second earthquake occurred while rescue operations were being carried out in the wake of the strong earthquake this morning. Strong aftershocks were felt in south-eastern Turkey and Damascus, Syria. It registered 7.5 magnitude on the Richter scale. The earthquake occurred at 1.24 pm local time.

Meanwhile, 1400 people died in the earthquake that occurred at 4 am. Many buildings were destroyed. There are also reports that many people are trapped inside. Quake was felt in Lebanon and Cyprus. It is reported that 912 people were killed in Turkey. 5383 people have been injured. 320 deaths have been reported in Syria so far.

The earthquake occurred at 4.17 am local time. Footage emerged of shocked people running around in panic. Efforts are on to evacuate people from the collapsed buildings. The epicenter of the earthquake was 17.9 kilometers underground in Gaziantep, south-eastern Turkey, near the border with Syria.

The tremors were felt in Ankara, the capital of Turkey, and other major cities nearby. Turkey's Interior Minister announced that the earthquake affected ten cities in Turkey. Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan announced on Twitter that rescue teams have been sent to the disaster area and that the whole country will face the disaster together.
