THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The four syndicates held a press conference at the varsity demanding that the Vice Chancellor of the Technical University, Ciza Thomas, is behaving unilaterally and that the governor should intervene to end the impasse. VC Ciza Thomas stated in a press release that the press conference was held without the permission of the Vice Chancellor and the allegations are baseless. The allegations are aimed at spreading anxiety among students. The VC explained that there was no administrative deadlock in the varsity and all the legal decisions taken by the Syndicate and the Board of Governance were allowed to be implemented. Decisions contrary to law and regulation are reported to the Chancellor. VC said further action will be as per the Chancellor's decision.

The syndicate members have alleged that the VC is not accepting the decisions of the Syndicate and the Board of Governance even after one and a half months and the budget, campus development, and syllabus reform are going out of order. Onscreen marking and online examinations are not accepted. Ph.D. admission, which was supposed to be held in January, has been postponed. Acknowledgment of teachers as guides is delayed.No orders have been issued for the distribution of graduation certificates and research degrees. The syndicate members also alleged that the student exchange scheme with foreign universities could not be implemented. The syndicates also demanded that the government should give a recommendation to the governor to remove the VC. The press conference was conducted by Dr. Jamuna, I Saju, G Sanjeev, and Vinod Kumar Jacob.
