KOCHI: It is reported that a transaction of Rs 8 lakh was made for the illegal adoption of the baby in Thripunithara by providing fake birth certificate. The employees of Ernakulam Medical College received the amount in several stages. Anoop received a baby girl born on 27th August 2022 just four days after delivery. First, three lakh rupees were handed over. Later, a fake birth certificate was made by stating that the baby was born on January 31 with Anoop and his wife as parents. Meanwhile, the rest of the money was taken from Anoop in three or four times. Biological parents were not part of this.

Anoop, a native of Thripunithura who has released several music albums, and his wife have been trying to legally adopt a child for years. As it didn’t happen due to various reasons, he approached an acquaintance from the medical college. Anoop came to know through Anil Kumar, the accused, that a Pathanamthitta native want to give up her child after giving birth.

Pathanamthitta native became pregnant when she was staying at her relative's house in Aluva for her studies. It is known that the woman is now abroad.

Anoop and his wife are members of a wealthy family and they raised the baby for five months. The naming ceremony was conducted lavishly. More than a hundred people participated in the ceremony held at the temple in Thripunithura. He said that it was an adopted child. A controversy arose while they were preparing for another ceremony involving a hundred artistes. Then the baby was handed over to the District Child Welfare Committee. Anoop and his wife are now absconding. It is also known that they are trying to get anticipatory bail.

Rahna, the complainant who is a temporary employee of the Municipal Corporation, has approached the police requesting that some employees of the medical records department should be added as accused in the incident. Footage of the main accused Anil Kumar and Anoop meeting at the Medical College Hospital on January 31 also surfaced yesterday. Anil Kumar is also absconding.
