WELLINGTON: The stash-weighing 3.2 tonnes(3200kg) found floating on the Pacific Ocean was seized in an operation by the New Zealand navy. The stash was found afloat kilometers from the New Zealand shore and caught the eyes of navy forces patrolling yesterday in these waters. The move from the New Zealand police comes as the follow-up of the touted 'operation Hydros' which the police and officials identify as the largest findings of illicit drugs by New Zealand agencies to date.
The seized stash is worth about a gargantuan New Zealand $500m. No arrest has been made regarding the issue, but the police make it certain that the floating stash was destined to reach the Australian shores, where there is an upmarket for such banned substances. The total number of packets found floating was 81. While the talks go on, The New Zealand government is readying moves to destroy the banned substances. Meanwhile, an investigation is on and the ships embarking in these waters will be under the scrutinizing eyes of the authorities for the coming days.
