A person's comportment and nous are not something that should be forced but comes innate. The circle of friends and the people he gets in touch with can surely do the necessary alteration to his behaviors. But something never changes, and to force someone to behave in a certain way is snobbish and condescending to the peak. Many people climbing the podium at election rallies proclaim the cultures and the intricacies of the varied diversity we espouse. But these people will shy away from practicing the same after giving all the preaching. The same goes here in the south of India. Politics rabble rouse big about casteism and the atrocities faced by many in the society. Calls will be also made by the same demagogues to end up such practices. But when it comes real, appallingly, it will be the same political heads that practice strict casteism in their family and their close milieus.
India is rich in its history and no country can claim a bigger diverse turf than the subcontinent. But when it comes to sanitation and other needed things, we try emulating westerners. Many such basics in our lives have had a good share of contributions from western practices. India has always revered cows. On a simple journey to Karnataka, you will see people giving tilaks to stray cows chewing down piles of waste from the streets. Kerala is alien to all these pursuits but surely the southern turf is not that different when it comes to treating cows. In such a condition, think about the government forming rules that make it mandatory for every family to own a cow. Ridiculous!
It will be bizarre and will be treated as a gaffe but nothing else. Many financially burdened people will fail to own a cow, but that doesn’t make them less patriotic. People who are making earing through livestock are not viewing cows as any particular political symbol. They love the calves and treat them with care.
Even the prime minister of India asked the workers of the party to distance away from the cancel culture that has slowly seeped into the country. The unwanted hullabaloo over the movie pathaan irked the PM who asked the worker to get to the ground rather than involving in trivial issues of sorts. The prime minister also asked the party members to imbibe the modern culture and voice their support for development. But it seems, the word had not reached the target ears as the Animal husbandry board in the country has urged all citizens to hug cows during Valentine's day to revive back the lost glory of Indic culture.
Normally, such odd statements are spouted by BJP leaders which will be later fodder for prime-time discussions. But now, appallingly a central board that should be devoid of any politics has made such an unusual statement. It should be made noted that those who love cows will hug and embrace them, not on Valentine's but every single day.
