KOTTAYAM: A man committed suicide in Thalayazhath near Vaikom. Vakkethara native Karthikeyan (61) is the deceased. Karthikeyan had taken a loan from Thottakam Co-operative bank in 2014. But he was unable to repay the loan and the amount rose to Rs 17 lakh. So, the bank had started loan recovery process and measured Karthikeyan’s property today morning.

Karthikeyan committed suicide after the bank officials left. The family alleges that the stress from the bank led to the suicide. The police said that they are investigating about the reason for murder.

The loan amount increased to Rs 17 lakh including interest. The bank officials reached Karthikeyan's house this morning as the financial year was about to end. The first phase of the recovery process was started. They measured the land and divided it. Karthikeyan was alone at his house during this time.

The bank officials said that he spoke to them in a friendly manner. He ended life after they left. The body was found by his wife and daughter who arrived later.
