NEW DELHI: Lashing out at the Congress and the Gandhi family, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday asked why the family members of Jawaharlal Nehru are not keeping the Nehru surname.

"Some people get angry if Nehru ji’s name is not mentioned in any programme. They will ask us why the name of Nehru ji was not taken. I am very surprised, even if I miss it, I will fix it, because he was the first Prime Minister of India. If Nehru is so great then why even his family members are not keeping the Nehru surname?” Modi said. He criticized the Gandhi family in his reply to the motion of thanks.

The Prime Minister attacked the Gandhi family and the Congress after Rahul Gandhi raised in Parliament that Modi had links with global businessman Adani. Modi said that the country is not the property of any particular family.
