NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court junked the Hindu Sena's plea to ban BBC in the country. The bench headed by Justice Sanjiv Khanna said the petition is confounded with no real value. Hindu Sena president Vishnu Gupta submitted the plea after the BBC aired the controversial documentary on the Indian prime minister titled "India: the Modi question". The furore over the documentary went like wildfire across the country as the filmed version showed the infamous riots that took shape in the year 2002 in Gujarat. Narendra Modi was serving as the chief minister of Gujarat during that time.

Alleging the BBC documentary, a deep conspiracy against the global rise of India and the prime minister, advocate Pinky Anand who appeared for the Hindu Sena beseeched the court to allow a central agency-headed investigation into the issue, but the court dismissed it saying the writ has no merit.
