THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: State-wide action has been taken against those selling food parcels without a slip or sticker with food safety warning in the state. In the first stage, a notice will be given with a warning. Penalty will be imposed from 16th. From February 1, slip or sticker has been made mandatory on food parcels. The slip or sticker should specify the date and time the food was cooked and the time within which it should be consumed. Minister Veena George has stated that strict action will be taken against establishments that provide food parcels without slips or stickers.


A special squad of the Food Safety Department inspected 321 establishments in the state today. Notices were issued to 53 institutions. 7 unsanitary establishments were closed. 62 samples were sent for testing. 21 tests were conducted as part of Operation Matsya. 25 fish samples were sent for testing. As part of the action, notices were issued against 40 establishments that did not have slips or stickers.
