MALAPPURAM: A teacher who groped a class 5 student and threatened to kill her if she reveals it to anyone, was arrested. Sawaf (29), a native of Vandoor who tried to escape by switching off the mobile phone has been arrested. A team led by CI E Gopakumar caught him.

The incident related to the case took place on February 3. The teacher groped the girl near the washroom of the school. He then dragged the girl to the nearby bush. The accused let her go after she screamed. He then threatened to kill her if she disclosed this. The girl did not go to school for the next few days due to threats from the teacher. When the girl came to the school, another teacher asked her about it and she revealed about the rape attempt.

Following this, the principal lodged a complaint with the police. The accused switched off his mobile phone and tried to escape after knowing about the police case. But the police caught the accused strategically. Sawaf was arrested under Pocso. The accused was produced in the Mancheri court by the police.
