MALAPPURAM: An 18-year-old UP native came to Malappuram to meet his girlfriend whom he met through Instagram. The police caught him and 16-year-old girl from Karuvarakkundu, while they were on the way to Delhi by train.
The court remanded Mohammad Naved, a resident of Pakbara Amroha in Amera village in UP, under POCSO charges for trying to abduct a minor girl. When her boyfriend arrived, the girl, who was studying in a private college, left the house saying she was going to class. Both went to Mancheri and then to Kozhikode. Then they travelled from Kozhikode to Delhi by train. When the girl went missing, the relatives lodged a complaint with the police. After receiving information that the girl was on the way to Delhi, the police sent a message to the railway police.
The two were then arrested by the railway police at Kasargod. After receiving the information, the police along with the relatives of the girl reached Kasargod and brought back both of them. It was during the interrogation that the details about Instagram love story came out. The girl was produced before the Malappuram Child Welfare Committee and sent back with her parents.
