childbirth-cesarean-keral

KANNUR: Just take the time gap between April and December 2022. In this short period, almost 45.39% of childbirth in Kerala were through cesarean. This comes at a time when the WHO has repeatedly asked every country to restrict the number of cesareans below 15%. With 55.5% cesarean childbirth, Alappuzha tops the list in Kerala. Kasargod is at the bottom with 31%. Overall in India, Kerala is the sixth when it comes to the cesarean. Teleganaga is in the first position. In Kerala’s government hospital, 43.57% of childbirth fall in the cesarean section while it is 47.21% in the state's private hospitals. The health ministry has made deliberation on the issue and is readying moves to come up with innovative measures to detract more families from a cesarean and to adopt normal measures for childbirth. The medical officers in every district of Kerala are now auditing reports of the caesarian conducted in hospitals. Along with the gynecologist, anesthesia experts need to be present at the time of childbirth to meet any emergency if the chance occurs. But many hospitals service with just a gynecologist making it preferable to go with a cesarean rather than taking a risk.

Meanwhile, many families opt for a cesarean sometimes to meet the demand for the exact zodiac star. Some women, in fear of the pain inflicted in normal childbirth, favor cesarean.
