THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The planned reorganization of the state Congress from the constituency committee to DCC level will be delayed. It is indicated that the reorganization discussion will be active only after the AICC plenary meeting to be held in Raipur, Chhattisgarh at the end of this month.
The KPCC is trying hard not to let the disputes in the organization affect the protest against the state government. It is in this situation that the restructuring process is frozen for the time being. Efforts are being made to unite the leaders and workers of all sections. UDF's round-the-clock strike against the tax burden in the budget is tomorrow and the day after.
There is widespread opposition to the special committees set up at the district level for reorganization discussions and the criteria prepared for the reorganization. The standards had to be changed more than once because of strong disagreement by the A group. A group of leaders had staged a public protest in Pathanamthitta. KPCC had given an ultimatum that the district-level committees should hand over the reorganization list on the 7th of this month, but it was not implemented.
The party leadership is focusing on intensifying the agitation against the government. UDF and KPCC have called for strong protests against tax proposals in the budget including fuel cess. In the event that the Legislative Assembly is not in session for the next two weeks, strong protest programs are needed to keep the anti-government sentiment alive among the people. The UDF constituents have demanded that Congress take the initiative.
