MALAPPURAM: The police arrested a man in connection with the suicide of his wife following severe harassment. The arrested is Arshad Ali, a native of Kadampuzha in Malappuram. The complaint said that Ali beat his wife Safwana brutally after their child's urine wetted his body. Safwana attempted suicide last Saturday, unable to bear the torture of her husband. Though Safwana, who was in critical condition, was admitted to the hospital, she lost her life last evening. He was arrested on the charge of abetment of suicide.

Arshad Ali and Safwana got married in 2020. He tortured his wife demanding more gold. After the birth of their baby, he started harassing her in the name of the baby's urine wetting him. Safwana was mentally and physically devastated following severe harassment. She had informed her relatives about her husband's brutal torture.
