NEW DELHI: President Droupadi Murmu has appointed new governors in thirteen states including Maharashtra. Ramesh Bais, Governor of Jharkhand, has been appointed as the Governor of Maharashtra. The appointment of Ramesh Bais is at a time when the present Governor Bhagat Singh Koshiyari of Maharashtra expressed to resign from the post. C P Radhakrishnan is the new Governor of Jharkhand.


Koshiyari came under the wrath of the opposition parties for hurting Marathi sentiments with his controversial remarks on Chhatrapati Shivaji. He said Shivaji was an icon of old days. He later informed Prime Minister Narendra Modi his intention to resign. Koshiyari is a former chief minister of Uttarakhand and former opposition leader.


Lt General Kaiwalya Trivikram Parnaik is the new Governor of Arunachal Pradesh. Brigadier B D Mishra, the Governor of Arunachal has been appointed as Ladakh Lt Governor. Laxman Prasad Acharya is the new Governor of Sikkim. Ghulam Chand Kataria will be the governor of Assam and Shiv Pratap Shukla of Himachal Pradesh.


Andhra Governor Biswa Bhusan Harichandan has been transferred to Chhattisgarh. Retd Justice Abdul Nazeer is the new Governor of Andhra Pradesh. Abdul Nazeer, a former Supreme Court judge and part of the five-member Constitution bench that delivered the unanimous judgment in the Ayodhya Ram Janmabhoomi case in 2019. bench that ruled in favor of the Ram temple construction in Ayodhya. He was also a member of the Supreme Court bench that ruled against triple talaq. He is a native of South Kannada.

Chhattisgarh Governor Anasuya Uikye has been transferred to Manipur. La Ganesan, Governor of Manipur, was transferred to Nagaland. Bihar Governor Phagu Chauhan has been transferred to Meghalaya. Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, the current governor of Himachal, is the new governor of Bihar.
