THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Senior Congress leader and former chief minister Oommen Chandy has been airlifted to Bengaluru for follow-up treatment. He was airlifted from Thiruvananthapuram Airport in a chartered flight arranged by the congress party. His wife Mariamma, elder daughter Maria Oommen, son Chandy Oommen and younger daughter Achu Oommen accompanied him to Bengaluru. Leaders Benny Behanan, P C Vishnunath, M M Hassan, Cherian Philip and many others were at the airport to see him off.
A decision was taken to shift him to Bengaluru after the hospital authorities informed his recovery from pneumonia. The party will bear all the medical expenses. Senior leader K C Venugopal had called on Chandy at the NIMS Hospital the other day.
