THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala Police survey report has come out that most of the children who are addicted to drugs in the state are girls. The National News Agency reports that 40% of drug victims under 21 are under 18. The Kerala Police conducted a survey related to the use of intoxicating drugs in Kerala. Drug rackets also use girls as carriers, the report said.
Earlier, more cases related to drug use were reported in colleges. But the top sources of the police report that now the drug mafia work focuses on schools. Police say the drug mafia also uses some women to bring girls into it. These women pretend to be friends with girls and lure them into using drugs.
Narcotic drug marketing is concentrated on roadside food stalls and shops near schools. Following this, 401 cases were filed in the raids conducted by police in these stalls and shops near schools in the state. 462 people were arrested. The report received from the team sent to provide counseling to school children to prevent the use of intoxicating drugs also contains shocking information. According to the report given by them, many of the girls above the age of 13 are using drugs and after that, they have been sexually assaulted. According to the report, many boys give drugs to girls with the aim of using them sexually.
In 2022, Kerala Police registered 25,240 cases related to drugs. Out of this, 29,514 accused were arrested. In 2021, of 5334 cases 6704 accused were arrested.
