AGARTALA: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has criticized the Congress and the CPM in a campaign rally ahead of the Tripura assembly elections. Modi repeated that what the people want is BJP’s double engine government of the BJP and the continuity of governance is assured. Modi's statements, assuring activists of election victory, came amid AICC Secretary Ajoy Kumar's announcement that a tribal CPM leader would become Tripura's Chief Minister on March 2.
The Prime Minister said that BJP has restored rule of law and peace in Tripura and CPM treated the people like slaves during its rule. “Earlier, only one party's flag could be hoisted in the state. There was a situation of bloodshed if another flag was raised. CPM has also continuously attacked Congress workers. The women and youth of Tripura have shown red card to CPM and corruption.”, he stated.
“Earlier there was a situation where the ration was stolen even before it reached the hands of the people. That changed when the BJP came to power. Corruption will return if CPM-Congress alliance comes to power. Therefore, the people should vote for BJP's double engine government.”, Modi demanded.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had criticized the CPM-BJP alliance in the Tripura elections the other day. He said that political rivals in Kerala have formed an alliance in Tripura. The Prime Minister said that the Congress and the Left parties have plunged the people into further poverty and those who raise slogans for the people do not know their sorrows. Modi's criticism was that the both parties engage in ‘kushti’ in Kerala and ‘dosti’ in Tripura.
Also, CPM General Secretary Sitaram Yechury had alleged that there is a possibility of a large-scale attack by BJP workers ahead of the elections. “BJP may unleash massive violence three days before polls. BJP is distributing huge amount of money to win elections. Central agencies are used as well as muscle power.”, he added. He also demanded to protect the activists from their house to the polling station.
