THRISSUR: Saleesh held Geetha’s hand in the campus 17 years ago. Now years later, they are entrepreneurs with Rs 2 lakh as income and parents of two children. Geetha is blind.

Geeta lost her eyesight due to genetic reasons. She came to Thrissur Kerala Varma College after learning through braille. There was a student association on campus that helped fellow students with disabilities. Saleesh was its leader. That’s how their relationship started.

Geetha graduated in Politics and Salish left college with B.Com. Three years later they got married in 2006. They struggled a lot to earn livelihood.

It was during Covid that they started a new experiment and it was a huge success. Turmeric, which is rich in curcumin, which helps fight cancer and increases immunity, has been prepared and sold in online market by adding dates, almonds, coconut milk and black pepper. Curcumin-rich Pratibha turmeric was cultivated on two acres of land taken on lease. After obtaining GST number, Geetha started online sales under the name Home to Home. Now also delivering directly to stores.

An average of 500 bottles will be sold per month. Rs 390 per bottle of 200 grams. Their children ales help them. 10th class student Ghazal and 6th class girl Gaya. Beyond the campus romance, we were there for each other as support, said Saileesh and Geeta.
