KOCHI: The government has decided to fit cameras into all buses running in the state. Within the 28th of this month, all buses will have a camera placed. Transport minister Antony Raju held a meeting with higher officials in Kochi today that resulted in this decision. The camera will be placed on the front of the bus and 50% of the cost to do so will be taken up by the Road safety authority in Kerala.
Every staff will be allotted one bus for inspection. The video will be analyzed and the officials will see whether the travel adhered to the traffic rules of the state. The decision comes in the wake of reports emerging about buses involved in the rash runs to meet the deadline.
The high court also lambasted the ruthless driving showcased by the state-run buses on road. The court made first the direction to place cameras which the government abided to. Hereafter, the bus drivers and conductors will be made to attend traffic regulation classes every six months.
