NEW DELHI: Congress has mocked the central government over the Income Tax department's raid at BBC offices. Congress has alleged country is facing an undeclared emergency. Congress took to Twitter to mock the raid at the BBC offices.
Leaders including Jairam Ramesh also came forward against the raid. Jairam Ramesh tweeted ‘Vinash Kale Viprit Buddhi’. Even as the opposition protested and demanded an inquiry into the allegations against the Adani Group, leaders criticized the central government for going after the BBC. “First came the BBC documentary, it was banned. Now IT has raided BBC. Undeclared emergency. Here we are demanding JPC in Adani's case and there the government is after BBC. Wisdom against destruction," Congress tweeted.

अब BBC पर IT का छापा पड़ गया है।
अघोषित आपातकाल
Meanwhile, BJP has come up with a justification on the issue. BJP has accused BBC as the most corrupt organization in the world. BJP also tweeted that government agencies are not caged parrots and they should be allowed to work. BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia said that BBC is bound to follow the law of India.
The BBC has also responded to the incident. The BBC tweeted that Income Tax (IT) officials are in their offices and are fully cooperating with them. The BBC informed that they are hoping to solve the issue quickly.
IT officials are conducting raids at BBC offices in Delhi and Mumbai. The raid is also in the context of the screening of a documentary prepared by the BBC against Prime Minister Narendra Modi in connection with the Gujarat riots. The explanation given by the Income Tax department officials is that they are conducting a 'survey' into allegations of irregularities regarding international taxation. It is reported that the phones of some journalists in the BBC office were seized.
