THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government secretaries opened up about their somber state to the chief minister in a closed meeting held today. The secretaries commented that the freedom to take independent decisions is stalled with no room for reforms. They also warned the CM that if such is the proceedings, the secretariat work would soon turn obsolete. The finance department and the local self-governing department are the major cause of hindrance to any such reforms or proceedings initiated by the government secretaries. The meeting was a highly enclosed one conducted in the city's mascot hotel. As the government is near to completing its two years in power, the chief minister called a meeting of secretaries to discuss ways to brighten up the working and governance of each department.
The complaints went afar saying that the union is craning its neck into administrative work. The central government fund is not making it to the state after it was decided by the state government to not give enough highlight to the centre-initiated programs. Meanwhile, the government secretaries are often engaged in meetings. The proper completion of files is not taken care of by anyone. The repeated transfers of officers who have proved their mettle also affect the proper working and governance in the office.
After hearing the flurry of complaints, the chief minister gave a curt reply that put an end to the meeting.
