KANNUR: The vigilance team that reached the beverage outlets expecting irregularities received an unexpected information. The vigilance team came to know that the employees of the Beverages Corporation were suffering from severe mental stress, despite having good income unlike other departments.

Expecting bribery, vigilance raids were conducted at some Bevco outlets in Kannur district two weeks ago. Instead of what was expected, mental stress relief tablets were found in the staff's bags. It is found that all the employees of an outlet experience similar stress. Although it is normal for those who involve in transactions worth crores from 9:30 am to 9 pm to have mental stress, but the level of it is appalling.

After the incident came to notice, the corporation took the initiative to avoid the situation by organizing a family union of the employees to reduce the pressure. Such a meeting had never taken place before in the history of the corporation. The employees also said that the family union was able to create an impression that the corporation was considering the matter sympathetically, even if it did not solve the problem.
