KOCHI: The arrest report of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) said M Sivasankar, former principal secretary to the chief minister, arrested in the Vadakkancherry life mission case, is not cooperating with the probe. The report also said that he tried to mislead the investigation. There are many things only Sivasankar knows in the Life Mission case. The report said that he should be taken into custody for interrogation and that he was arrested for this reason.

The documents of many transactions were recovered from Sivasankar’s phone chats. If examined these, his role in the case will be clear.

The ED arrested Sivasankar after 12 hours of interrogation around 11.30 pm last night. He was interrogated for three days. He was taken to the General Hospital for medical examination at 12.15 pm today. After that, he was brought back to the office of the ED. This is the first arrest in the Life Mission case recorded by ED. M Sivasankar is the fifth accused in the case.

Sivasankar will be produced in the Ernakulam Economic Offenses Court soon. The statements of UNITAC MD Santhosh Eepan, accused in the case, Swapna Suresh and Sarith, accused in the gold smuggling case, were against Sivasankar. Swapna had given a statement that one crore found in her bank locker was the bribe money Sivasankar got for this deal.
