THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A meeting was held under the leadership of Health Minister Veena George to seek the support of food bloggers and chefs for the ‘Vilarchayil Ninnu Valarchayilekku’ (ViVa) (from anemia to growth) Kerala campaign launched under the leadership of the State Health Department. Health Minister Veena George said that with the inauguration of Viva Kerala by the Chief Minister in Kannur Thalassery on the 18th of this month, a big campaign will be started.

Kerala is the state with the least anemia in the country. But such a campaign is designed to effectively combat anemia. Anemia is more common in women especially working women. Many people do not look after their personal health. Anemia can cause physical and mental problems. Anemia affects the intellectual development of children. A change in eating habits can be very beneficial. For this, food bloggers and chefs can make their contribution, the minister said.

Anemia is not something that can be treated with medication alone. Viva Kerala is conducting the campaign in collaboration with various departments. Awareness about food is much needed. There should be awareness about the inclusion of fruits and vegetables in the diet. Children should be strongly encouraged to include fruits and vegetables in their diet from the school level onwards. This will help to bring knowledge to homes through schools. Foods rich in vitamin C should be included in the diet. The minister also requested to participate in awareness for the betterment of the general society. The minister said that food bloggers and chefs can play a big role in developing a habit of balanced food and healthy eating habits in this situation where our food culture is changing. Food bloggers and chefs provided all the support. Women Child Development Director G Priyanka, leading food bloggers, chefs, etc. were present.
