THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state government has initiated moves to include 5906 more seats for teachers in public schools. The General Education Department has forwarded the recommendation to the Finance Department to create 6005 additional posts for 2313 schools. Minister V Sivankutty said that once the approval of the finance department is received, the appointment process will begin.

There will be 5906 teaching posts and 99 non-teaching posts. The new job postings are in the wake of the sudden surge in student count across government schools. From 1016 government schools, 3080 posts for teachers should be made. Likewise from 1207-aided schools, 2925 posts should be created. Due to the sudden pandemic, that wreaked havoc in 2019 times, the posts for teachers were brought to a sudden halt.

Most posts to be created are from Malappuram. 694 posts should be created in government schools in Malappuram while the numbers are 889 when it comes to aided schools. The least number of posts to be created is in the Pathanamthitta district. The Minister of Education, V Sivankutty reasserted that the legal procedures required stay imminent after the proceedings get clear from the Finance department.
