KOZHIKODE: The police are interrogating six people in connection with the death of Vishwanathan (46), a tribal man who was found hanging in Kozhikode Medical College. These are among those who spoke to Viswanathan before his death are being interrogated. It is reported that they are not the ones who restrained Vishwanathan. The police say that they are the group of patients who were in the hospital when Vishwanathan was detained.

The shirt Vishwanathan was wearing on the day he died was found yesterday. A few coins, paan mixture, a cigarette and a match were in his shirt pocket. The police is about to conduct a scientific examination of the shirt. Meanwhile, the police received footage of Vishwanathan being interrogated by a mob in the hospital premises but could not identify them. ACP K Sudarshan had informed the other day that the family has withdrawn from the demand of re-postmortem. He also said that the statement of Vishwanathan's family has been recorded.

Vishwanathan's relatives have demanded a detailed inquiry into his death. Relatives say that Vishwanathan did not commit suicide and was beaten to death. Vishwanathan, who went to the hospital for his wife's delivery, was found hanging. He was beaten up by the mob accusing him of theft, following which, he was found dead.
