BENGALURU: Telugu actor Nandamuri Tarakaratna, who collapsed while attending a padayatra organized by the Telugu Desam Party, passed away late Saturday night. He was 40. Nandamuri, grandson of N T Rama Rao, the former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh and founder of the TDP, was undergoing treatment in a Bengaluru hospital for twenty-three days. Nandamuri developed physical discomfort during the yuvagalam padayatra led by Nara Lokesh in Chittoor.

Nandamuri visited places of worship along with party leaders during the padayatra. The actor suffered a heart attack while leaving a church in Kuppam. He was then shifted to a hospital in Bengaluru for better treatment. Nandamuri is nephew of Telugu superstar Balakrishna. He became active in cinema with the movie Okato number Kurradu.
Nandamuri was also a recipient of the Nandi award for his role in the film βAmaravathiβ. He also recently acted in a web series titled '9 hourβ.
Nandamuri was born on February 22, 1983. He was also the cousin of popular actors Junior NTR and Kalyan Ram.
