THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Assembly Secretariat officials are scrambling to find accommodation for 19 MLAs stranded after the demolition of the Pampa block of the MLA hostel. The fact that the flat owners in the city are not ready to rent flats to the MLAs is troubling the authorities. Owners say it will always be crowded and noisy and disturb other residents. A building with 19 flats on the city limits is to be found within eight kilometers of the Legislative Assembly. Rent should be as low as possible. The Assembly Secretariat has demanded that all the flats should be in the same building or adjacent buildings. A letter of interest was issued after inviting quotations from the flat owners.
The first contract became a mistake
KARAMANA: The Legislature Secretariat signed the contract for the private flat on Melarannoor Road. After starting to live here, it was realized that the flat owners had signed the contract by hiding many things. The mistake came to light when the parking area was demolished for the railway fly-over. With that the MLAs had to vacate. A shed has been prepared above the Nila block of the MLA hostel, but many MLAs do not go there as the facilities are very poor. A new rented building was sought, after the MLAs complained.
