BENGALURU: An IPS officer released personal pictures of a female IAS officer after allegations of corruption. A verbal spat between two top women officials in Karnataka has crossed the limits.

Karnataka Handicrafts Development Corporation MD and IPS officer D Roopa Moudgil shared pictures of Rohini Sindhuri, Commissioner of Hindu Religious Institutions and Charitable Endowments Department and IAS officer, on Facebook yesterday. Roopa alleged that Rohini herself shared these pictures with three male IAS officers during 2021-22. A new controversy has been ignited by Roopa after making 20 allegations against Rohini through Facebook on Saturday. Roopa also pointed that sharing such pictures is an offense under the Indian Service Rules.

Rohini hit back at the incident yesterday and issued a statement. Rohini responded that mental issue is a serious one and needs to be resolved through treatment and counselling. When it affects people in positions of responsibility, it becomes more dangerous. Roopa was driving false, personal and defamatory campaigns against her. This is her standard modus operandi. The IAS officer also alleged that she has acted like this in all the places she had worked.

The images are screenshots taken from social media posts and WhatsApp status to defame her. Rohini also asked her to release the names of the people to whom Roopa is accusing her of sending these.

The incidents started when the pictures of Rohini and JDS MLA S R Mahesh sitting in a restaurant surfaced. Rohini had given a report in 2021 when she was the collector of Mysuru that the MLA had grabbed land A defamation case of Rs 1 crore filed by Mahesh is pending against this. The pictures came out amid allegations that Rohini had met Mahesh to settle the case. Roopa shared a YouTube link on Facebook and made a number of allegations against Rohini.

In this, it is pointed that Rohini committed corruption and dereliction of duty during her tenure as Mysuru Collector. Roopa also accused Rohini of being involved in the suicide of IAS officer D K Ravi.
