BENGALURU: A young man stabbed a delivery boy to death because he did not have the money to buy the iPhone he ordered online. The incident took place at Arsikere in Hassan, Karnataka. The accused, Hemant Dutt (20), was arrested.

Hemant Dutt ordered a second-hand iPhone online on February 3. Cash on delivery mode was selected for payment. A delivery boy named Hemant Naik (23) came to deliver the phone. Hemant Dutt went inside the house on the pretense of taking money and came back with a knife. The delivery boy was then stabbed several times to death. After the iPhone was taken, the dead body was hidden inside the house.

Hemant Naik's relatives and the delivery management company had complained to the police that he was missing. Then, during the investigation focused on the part where the last order was delivered, the information about the murder came to light. The CCTV footage near Hemant Dutt's house became crucial in the investigation. The police got footage of him trying to dump the dead body on a bike and buying diesel to burn it. The accused confessed to the crime during interrogation after being taken into custody. He told the police that he had wanted to own an iPhone for a long time and when he ordered it, he did not have enough money and asked many people to loan him some.
