MADURAI: Paint on shoes, khaki pants, and CCTV footage helped police track down the accused in the attack on a Malayali railway gatekeeper at Poorvika Chatram in Tenkasi, Tamil Nadu. Anish, a resident of Pathanapuram, was arrested. He is the accused in a sexual assault case registered at Kunnikode police station. After getting out on bail, he was working as a painter in Shenkottai. He was arrested by Madurai Railway Special Police Team.

The police's investigation focused on the paint on the footwear, which belonged to the accused. When inquired about the painting workers nearby, police were informed that one person was missing. The assailant, Anish, was wearing only khaki pants when the incident took place. The victim of the attack had disclosed this to the police. Based on this, an investigation was conducted on those who wear khaki pants. Then when the CCTV is checked, the investigation reached Anish. He had been doing painting work in Shenkottai for the past three months.

Aneesh was arrested three days after the incident in a mobile phone-based investigation. He was arrested from Puliyarai on the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border. An identification parade was then held.
